Antique Deck

Aged artwork in the style of 1900

The Antique Deck sets the tone for the whole site and is the illustrated reward of Story mode. It imitates the lithographed sheets of early-20th-century Spanish decks: flat, muted inks, brick-toned reds, paper with wear marks and edges worn from passing through many hands.

The forty-eight cards are illustrated one by one, with no repeated templates. The coins are embossed golden discs, the cups keep the wide base of old decks, the swords cross in compositions you can count at a glance and the clubs are branches with leaves and ribbons, with the site's name worked into the ace the way old decks carried the maker's mark.

The wear sits where it doesn't get in the way: on the edges and the background, never over the suit or the rank. That's what lets a good-looking deck stay playable on a phone screen, glanced at for half a second.
