The decks of Lascuarenta.es (The Forty)

Every deck has its own character, but none of them sacrifices clarity. Suit and value are recognisable at a glance. Here you can see the forty-eight cards and the two jokers of each design.

Default deck

The deck everyone plays with from day one

The default deck is on the table from day one, no purchases or unlocks needed. It comes with your account and is the one you'll find when you enter a quick game of Brisca, Tute, Cuatrola, Chinchón or Escoba.

Antique Deck

Aged artwork in the style of 1900

The Antique Deck sets the tone for the whole site and is the illustrated reward of Story mode. It imitates the lithographed sheets of early-20th-century Spanish decks: flat, muted inks, brick-toned reds, paper with wear marks and edges worn from passing through many hands.

Simple deck

Maximum readability on small screens

The Simple deck came out of a recurring complaint: some artwork is hard to read on a small phone, especially when playing on the go. That's why it uses large symbols, a clean background, plenty of contrast and no decoration that distracts from the card.

Medieval Fantasy

Knights, kingdoms and a bestiary on the court cards

Medieval Fantasy takes the Spanish deck into an imagined kingdom. The kings are castle monarchs; the knaves, armoured riders; and the jacks, squires and archers. The suits stay easy to recognise, though now the coins are treasure coins, the cups ceremonial chalices, the swords worked steel and the clubs are staffs of command.

Wild West deck

Saloons, sheriffs and frontier dust

The West deck mixes Spanish cards with the Western: wide-brimmed hats, sheriff stars, revolvers on the court cards and saloon and dry-earth backgrounds. Clubs become mesquite branches and swords, frontier blades.

Galactic Deck

The four suits reimagined as science fiction

The Galactic Deck moves completely away from the Antique's style. It has deep backgrounds, cold lights and suits turned into technology: energy cores for the coins, sealed containers for the cups, plasma weapons for the swords and antennas and masts for the clubs.

Christmas Deck

Christmas edition: holly, gifts and the Three Wise Men

The Christmas Deck is Lascuarenta.es (The Forty)'s winter edition, made for the games that only happen at Christmas: the long lunch on the 25th, the afternoon with the cousins you only see once a year, and the New Year's Eve session that starts with coffee and ends at dawn.

Halloween

The seasonal deck, pumpkins included

The Halloween deck is the site's seasonal edition: pumpkins, ravens, cobwebs and masked court cards. The four suits keep their shape but change texture and company.

Viking Deck

Runes, warriors and northern legends across the four suits

The Viking Deck takes the four Spanish suits into a landscape of fjords, runes and northern expeditions. The structure remains that of a Spanish deck, dressed here in aged metal and details reminiscent of wood carving.

Japanese Deck

Samurai, cherry blossoms and Japanese tradition across the four suits

The Japanese Deck dresses the Spanish cards in motifs from classical Japan. Its forty-eight cards feature cherry blossoms, torii gates, mountains, clouds and traditional architecture, always on light backgrounds that keep every value easy to read.

Caricature Deck

A bright, expressive medieval deck that's easy to read

The Caricature Deck presents the Spanish deck with a bright, playful medieval drawing style. Its forty-eight cards are full illustrations, each with its own composition, a continuous frame and the rank visible in both corners.

Best Friends Deck

Dogs, cats and loyalty to share in every game

The Best Friends Deck brings together dogs and cats in forty-eight illustrations full of personality. There are playful puppies and cats with a regal bearing, but the structure of the Spanish deck stays clear and the suit and value are always easy to tell apart.

Hispania Deck

A journey through the cultures that shaped the peninsula

The Hispania Deck travels through four eras of peninsular history across forty-eight cards. Each suit keeps the traditional structure and gets its own historical identity. The value is recognised first; the details of each illustration come after.

Most decks are unlocked with Sotas from the shop, and others are earned by playing story mode. Only the artwork changes, not the rules. You can read how they were made on the blog.
