What is Cante (declaration)?
A cante is announcing that you hold the rey and the caballo (in Guiñote, the rey and the sota) of the same suit: it is worth twenty points, or forty in trumps.
You may only declare after winning a trick, and you say it out loud: 'las veinte en copas (cups)' or 'las cuarenta'.
This is the origin of the Spanish expression 'cantar las cuarenta'. In Tute, holding all four reyes or all four caballos lets you declare 'tute' and win the hand.
