What is Triunfo (trump)?

The triunfo (trump) is the suit that rules the hand: any card of that suit beats cards of the other suits.

It is usually set by the muestra, the card turned face up after dealing. If it is a card of oros (coins), oros are trumps until the end of the hand.

Playing a trump when you cannot follow suit is called 'fallar'. Keeping track of how many trumps have been played is one of the keys to playing well.
